The Ponte Vecchio (literally ’old bridge’), is the oldest bridge of Florence and one of the main tourist sites of the city. It crosses the Arno at its narrowest point and can certainly be considered as one of the most evocative places where to stroll because of its ideal location. Next to the bridge there is the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important museums of the world which every year has about two million visitors. Its art collection is superb since it’s made up of priceless works of art belonging to the Medici collection, enriched through the centuries thanks to exchanges and donations. The enchanting Piazzale degli Uffizi connects the Arno river to the Piazza della Signoria square, one of the most elegant districts of the city. Here you can find fashion boutiques, leather shops, bars and luxury hotels. It’s the ideal location for a weekend in Florence. From here other important sites, such as Palazzo Vecchio, the cathedral, Palzzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens, are in a ten minutes walking distance.
